Dr. Willens has written about her unusual and very interesting
life in Shanghai, China. She is looking for a literary agent to
assist in getting her book published.
The author was born in Shanghai to Russian Jewish parents who
fled Czarist Russia during the Revolution. She grew up and lived in
the French Concession of Shanghai during the Japanese occupation in
World War II, the civil war between the armies of Chiang Kai-shek and
Mao Tse-tung, and two years under the newly established communist
regime of the People's Republic of China. The memoir ends as she
finally receives an immigration visa and sets sail to the United States.
