The 92nd Street Y Buttenwieser Library and the Jewish Book Council are cosponsoring the Jewish Fiction Writers' Conference at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan on Sunday, March 15, 2009, from 9 am to 5 pm. The registration fee is $115 by February 16 and $135 after February 16. The fee includes kosher breakfast and lunch. Featured speakers are publicist Shira Dicker of Shira Dicker Media International, writer Erika Dreifus of The Practicing Writer, literary agent David Forrer of Inkwell Management, publicity director/acquiring editor Cary Goldstein of Twelve, author Jeffrey Hantover, editorial director Lara Heimert of Basic Books, editorial director Altie Karper of Schocken Books/Random House, author Liel Leibovitz, publisher Elisabeth Scharlatt of Algonquin Books, and author/screenwriter Darin Strauss. Author/professor of fiction writing Binnie Kirshenbaum of Columbia University will give opening remarks. The day will include sessions on fiction publishing, literary agents, marketing, short story publishing, and publicity, and a panel discussion with award-winning new authors.
