What: Film: Till We Have Built Jerusalem... by Eli Cohen, Yaakov Gross and Zvi Shefy Where: Library of Congress, Madison Building, Pickford Theater When: Monday, April 27, 2009 at 12:00 (Noon) Screening will be followed by discussion with Israeli filmmaker Yaakov Gross Program is free and open to the Public The film documents the thirty years of British Rule, through historians who present the Jewish, Palestinian and British points of view, using film clips and excerpts from newsreels from the time that illustrate the history of the conflict which remains unresolved to this day Yaakov Gross, Israeli film researcher, preservationist, documentary filmmaker, director and producer recently won the Life Achievement Award from the Conference on Preservation of Audio-Visual Memory in Israel. Gross has spent a lifetime of work restoring unearthing, preserving, and making films using rare footage to document Israel's history. Much of footage was previously considered lost film. Mr. Gross comes from a family of filmmakers. His father, Natan Gross made one of the most important postwar Holocaust films, "Unzer Kinder". His brother, Yoram Gross, is Australia's leading animation producer and director.
