(56680) Most libraries will have copies of Gutman's "Illuminated Hebrew Manuscripts" which is physically larger than this, but limited to illuminated manuscripts which is far from the whole story. This is a very nicely printed book and the photography is straight and not manipulated to suppress bleed-through of the manuscript images from the versos. That certainly adds to the sense that one is seeing the manuscripts as they really are. Ms. Tahan, who I believe is a member of this list, provides a solid but not overly scholarly introduction to the subject and very helpful comments on each of the manuscript pages reproduced. In preparing this work she has had the boon of the wonderful collection of Hebrew manuscripts held by the British Library.
