I would recommend the wonderful memoir *The Forger*, by Cioma Schonhaus,
published in 2009. This story of a Jewish artist who lived under the noses
of the Nazis while he forged documents for other Jews reads like a movie.
The challenge when a large number of people read one book is that people
tend to prefer different genres. (That is why, in fact, I stay away from
book clubs!) But this would be a crowd-pleaser, and it would be
appropriate for young adults, as well. I would pair that with the new
picture book/biography of Marcel Marceau, entitled *Marcel Marceau, Master
of Mime*, by Gloria Spielman (2011, grades 2 - 5). I found it fascinating
to read how Marceau, who was Jewish, helped Jewish children escape the
Nazis. Enjoy!
