Although it sounds like the introduction to library 101, it really is a help to
develop a mission statement for a library because the mission statement is a
point of departure for the collection.  If the main use and purpose of your
library is for the religious school attached to the shul, the nature of the
books you will keep will be a reflection of that. Conversely, if your
congregation is older and there is not much going on in your religious school,
then the culling will be a reflection of your patronage rather than the support
of your religious school students and staff.

"This above all, to thine own self be true. And it shall follow, as the
night follows day, thou canst not then be false to any man."

Dear Safranim - any suggested readings or guidance that would be
suitable for a small Temple library would be much appreciated.

      Many thanks,

       Arthur

       I am trying
to help my temple organize and weed its collection.  We are
the oldest temple in Rochester NY, Temple B'rith Kodesh.
I am hoping you may be able to recommend some source(s) which
could help me with this task.

      Thanks so much!
