A feature documentary about a young Ethiopian girl’s bravery in the face of
enormous odds. Zemene lives in a remote village in the beautiful countryside
of Ethiopia. Afflicted with a rare potentially life-threatening illness which
results in curvature of the spine, she struggles with poverty and poor
education. In a chance encounter on the streets of Gondar, she crosses paths
with Dr. Rick Hodes an internist specializing in spinal conditions. He is in
Ethiopia working for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. This
chance meeting takes her down a new path, giving her hope for the future.
Filmmaker Melissa Donovan will discuss her film following the screening.
