Dear Colleagues,

Cataloging Form: LCDGT headings

Thursday, November 17, 2022

12:30pm ET
A patron is looking for a specific book, one written by aHebrew language
instructor and intended for students of the Hebrew language. Tohelp out with
the search, the cataloger might include specific headings in thebibliographic
record. The headings are the Library of Congress DemographicGroup Terms (LCDGT)
- a controlled vocabulary created by the Library ofCongress to supplement the
Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) bybringing out the demographic
group of the author, and/or the demographic groupof the intended audience.
These terms are intended to help patrons inspecific searches for works by
specific types of creators or for works directedtoward specific audiences. This
Cataloging Forum will discuss the best practiceuse of the LCDGT headings, where
in the bibliographic record and Name AuthorityRecords these LCDGT headings are
recorded, and making proposals.
This event is for AJL members only.
Stay tuned for registration information!

All the best,

Haim
