Dear colleagues, Fonrobert (2009) identified what she called a new spatial turn in Jewish Studies producing a "veritable boom ... of projects that investigate questions of place and space". Diana Pinto and Joachim Schlör are among those who pioneered this trend already in the late nineties. Many recent conferences and publications on Jewish Spaces testify that this is an ongoing vigorous trend. We have now an opportunity to map how teaching and training programs focused on Jewish Placemaking are being carried out.

Readily available translation tools now enable an inclusive approach. Conceptually, the scope is also broad. It is *not restricted* to placemaking based on urban planning approaches. This thread, founded by William H. Whyte in the 1960s, has been thriving since then, and continues with creative innovations. Other approaches to teaching placemaking also are welcome. Examples may include: Courses stemming from Pierre Nora's concept of "Lieux de mémoire". Any significant entity, which by dint of human will or the work of time has become a symbolic element of the memorial heritage of a community. Cultural landmarks, places, practices, and expressions from a shared past. Teaching placemaking that involves the concept of social production of space as conceived by Henri Lefebvre. Space produced and constructed socially and as a set of human relations. This conception became an agenda for a sociology of space and feeds agonistic political developments related to placemaking.
