Another three oldies but goodies (I may have missed these in the suggestions of other Safranim). These are books I read when I decided to return to Judaism after having my first child, while living in a small town where we were the only Jewish family. They taught me a lot:
1. To Life! by Rabbi Harold Kushner, of blessed memory 2. Nine Questions People Ask About Judaism, by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin and Dennis Prager 3. Jewish Literacy, a large reference tome, by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin I found that I learned a lot from them.
