JBI is looking for a temporary librarian (in person ideal but will consider remote) to help us during the retirement transition of one or our librarians. We will be searching for a permanent librarian in the near future.
JBI, based in Manhattan, includes a library with over 13,000 audio books, a a number of large print and braille books. We also provide individuals with vision impairment, for free, Jewish calendars and liturgical books in braille and large print. Our librarians work with our patrons to assist them in selecting library materials or arranging to receive our materials, and also to connect patrons to our book groups and other virtual or in person programming. While we will be hiring a full time librarian, at this point we need to make sure that we can continue to serve our patrons well during the transition and anticipate the search process will take months. If interested in having a conversation about the temporary or permanent position, and/or a job description, I would be delighted to speak to you about our needs.
