As I briefly mentioned during the RAS annual meeting at the AJL conference, the 
co-authored survey of Israel studies collections outside of Israel was 
published in the Journal of Israel History, in a special issue titled “Israel 
Studies as a Global Discipline” (Vol. 42:1; not yet completed/ announced).

The article shows how the discipline of Israel studies is defined by and 
practiced in library and archival collections, and what collections are 
available in different institutions. Building on Marc Bloch’s The Historian’s 
Craft, the article describes the librarian’s craft and what it takes to build 
collections in support of curricula and research—in attempt to connect faculty 
with librarians and collections.
