Dear all, As I briefly mentioned during the RAS annual meeting at the AJL conference, the co-authored survey of Israel studies collections outside of Israel was published in the Journal of Israel History, in a special issue titled “Israel Studies as a Global Discipline” (Vol. 42:1; not yet completed/ announced).
The article shows how the discipline of Israel studies is defined by and practiced in library and archival collections, and what collections are available in different institutions. Building on Marc Bloch’s The Historian’s Craft, the article describes the librarian’s craft and what it takes to build collections in support of curricula and research—in attempt to connect faculty with librarians and collections. We wholeheartedly thank our colleagues who contributed their time and attention to our study, your help was invaluable! The following is the provisional citation (please note that the annotated list of over 120 distinctive collections is available separately in the supplementary material section): Leket-Mor, Rachel, Uri Kolodney, and Joseph Galron-Goldschläger. “Israel Studies Collections in Research Libraries and Archives outside of Israel: A Survey.” Journal of Israeli History, April 24, 2024. https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://doi.org/10.1080/13531042.2023.2338626__;!!KGKeukY!w3Y7aYc3axkkuJWjVDvOW2nHhNqR57OgzNVYhqsxrW9_o7__MTAOwfCiUv5VgcZdwqYhboAI2NZEoC5F-r-cVqSXAjJYHqs$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/doi.org/10.1080/13531042.2023.2338626__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!cgdCHPJVeNNiT_MAqbSjnvjuQYhfsxpOkt82cSbYNulVCMmkoRYRNZjmFooYAQRPx1VCMkKimrNMeIiOocwwysI3xfyh_yA$>.
