I am a member of ALA Council and would appreciate being notified when an anti-Israel resolution is coming up so I can be prepared. Also the ALA antisemitism is worse than just the public statements but includes conferences on/during Passover
I am a member of ALA Council and would appreciate being notified when an anti-Israel resolution is coming up so I can be prepared. Also the ALA antisemitism is worse than just the public statements but includes conferences on/during Passover and individual micro aggressions. I am on the ALA Committee on Diversity and have started a regular conversation with the President and Vice-President about all these issues. On December 12, 2025, Congressman Tim Walberg, chairman of the House Committee on Education and Workforce, notified
APA (PDF, 260KB) of an investigation into allegations of antisemitism at
our organization. We are reviewing the request from his committee.
We want to share some context and reassure you about APA’s response.
First, let us be clear. APA unequivocally condemns antisemitism in all its forms.
Our resolution
(PDF, 134KB) on Anti-Semitic and Anti-Jewish Prejudice explicitly condemns all antisemitic attitudes and actions, acknowledges the climate of fear such prejudice creates, and commits to promoting fairness, respect, and dignity for all people regardless
of religion or ethnicity. We foster an environment where all members can participate freely, without experiencing discrimination.
Some of our Jewish members and community organizations have voiced concerns about antisemitism within the broader psychology field and within APA’s divisions. We have taken and
continue to take those concerns seriously. APA has been actively addressing these concerns as part of our long-standing commitment to building a more equitable and just society. When allegations have been raised, we
have addressed them (PDF, 241KB).
In the next few weeks, we will be working to get the committee up to speed on all the steps APA has taken, and continues to take, to uphold our values and support all members of
our community.
