About the Collection Housed in the Kislak Center, the Lorraine Beitler Collection of the Dreyfus Affair includes posters, broadsides, newspapers, magazines, letters, prints, caricatures, books, and postcards documenting the history of the Dreyfus Affair and its global impact on the art, society, and politics of France and the modern world. All of the major events of the Affair, from the wrongful conviction of Captain Alfred Dreyfus for treason in 1894 to Emile Zola's galvanizing statement headlined "J'Accuse...!" in 1898, to Dreyfus' long-awaited exoneration in 1906, are represented by original items in the collection. The collection was assembled by Lorraine Beitler as a resource for students, scholars, and members of the community interested in the research and study of the Dreyfus Affair and its importance to stimulate discussion of issues of prejudice, justice, politics and personal courage. Beitler's intent was that the collection would be used broadly to examine and promote understanding and social justice. * Consult collection descriptions<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://web.archive.org/web/20200901030404/http:/sceti.library.upenn.edu/dreyfus/coll_description.cfm__;!!KGKeukY!1t2VqSOTEkJYHRRijrWh2k5tiEcx8vX1gK9RbI3k7cazHB1tQsFj0DdzY7KZUp7XeafmaYzyXXlRZ6EyID4fmHpE$ > (archived website) * View selected works from the Beitler Collection<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://upenn.box.com/shared/static/vq3x72w1q5coqhq2g67q3kj434rg5qul.pdf__;!!KGKeukY!1t2VqSOTEkJYHRRijrWh2k5tiEcx8vX1gK9RbI3k7cazHB1tQsFj0DdzY7KZUp7XeafmaYzyXXlRZ6EyIBl2qrJl$ > (2002 catalog, pdf download) * Browse list of books, periodicals, and manuscripts on the Dreyfus Affair in the library catalog<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://find.library.upenn.edu/?per_page=100&q=*22Dreyfus*Affair*Collection**A28University*of*Pennsylvania*29*22&search_field=all_fields&sort=publication_date_sort*asc*2C*title_sort*asc__;JSsrKyUrKyUlKyUrKw!!KGKeukY!1t2VqSOTEkJYHRRijrWh2k5tiEcx8vX1gK9RbI3k7cazHB1tQsFj0DdzY7KZUp7XeafmaYzyXXlRZ6EyIA3koxIx$ > [Postcard image of Alfred Dreyfus] Learn more about the Beitler Collection<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.library.upenn.edu/collections/notable/lorraine-beitler-collection__;!!KGKeukY!1t2VqSOTEkJYHRRijrWh2k5tiEcx8vX1gK9RbI3k7cazHB1tQsFj0DdzY7KZUp7XeafmaYzyXXlRZ6EyIKMP1T4I$ > Many thanks!
