Patron Services and Programming Librarian
Role Overview
The Patron Services and Programming Librarian at JBI Library is responsible for 
providing excellent customer service by telephone and email to our community 
members (50%), cataloging and collection promotion (40%), and outreach, 
communications, and programming (10%). Additionally, the role includes 
administrative duties such as maintaining records, preparing reports, and 
assisting with budget planning and grant applications. The librarian will work 
with the outreach team, operations department, production department, and other 
library staff members, and will be supervised by the Head Librarian.

Master’s degree in library science required,(Candidates in their final semester 
of a Library Science Masters program will also be considered.)


Operations Administrator

Role Overview
The Operations Administrator plays a vital support role in ensuring the smooth 
day-to-day functioning of JBI Library’s programs, communications, and 
administrative systems. Working closely with the operations, library, 
production, and development teams, this role coordinates logistics for programs 
and volunteers, supports patron and partner communications, maintains accurate 
records across multiple systems, and helps implement operational processes that 
enable staff to focus on mission-driven work. The Operations Administrator is 
highly organized, collaborative, and service-oriented, bringing strong 
attention to detail and technical follow-through to support accessible 
programming, volunteer engagement, and institutional efficiency across JBI 
Library.

Experience in an administrative, operations, or program support role, 
preferably in a nonprofit or mission‑driven organization. (no MLS required)

Founded in 1931 as The Jewish Braille Institute, JBI Library is an 
international nonprofit organization committed to connecting people of all ages 
and backgrounds who are blind, have low vision, or are print disabled to Jewish 
life. We do this by providing access to texts vital to Jewish culture, 
heritage, education, religious life, and community. Through a vast circulating 
library, liturgical texts, customized materials, cultural offerings and 
in-person and remote programming, JBI supports our patrons in connecting to the 
rich literary, cultural, and religious life of the Jewish community. We create, 
publish, and distribute thousands of Jewish-interest materials in audio, 
braille, and large print that are provided free of charge and sent directly to 
our patrons' doorsteps. JBI Library serves most of its patrons remotely.
