Michael, You and I were talking earlier this week about the reliability of the infrastructure of Haskell.org and Hackage. As I understand it, although the uptime of these systems is far better than it was two years ago, they are still not available reliably enough for you to be able to offer them to FP Complete’s customers. You’d be willing to offer sysadmin support, or other support, if these things could be fixed. I talked to Austin, who leads the Haskell Infrastructure Team (cc’d), a group of volunteers who together manage the infrastructure of both haskell.org and Hackage. He says he would welcome a conversation with you about this. He’d like to understand better exactly what problems you and your customers are experiencing. He says that any sysadmin help you or FP Complete feel able to give would be fantastic. Austin himself has plans for how he’d like to see the infrastructure develop. You were clear that you aren’t expecting a spare-time volunteer group to run a commercial-quality service; rather, you want to partner with the infrastructure group to build and support a service that serves both commercial users and the open-source community. This willingness to work with the community is one of FP Complete’s particular strengths – thank you. Do please keep me in the loop. Thanks Simon -- Regards, Austin - PGP: 4096R/0x91384671 _______________________________________________ haskell-infrastructure mailing list [email protected] http://community.galois.com/mailman/listinfo/haskell-infrastructure
