I agree with this. At worst, without class aliases, it just means
programmers need to copy and paste some boilerplate:
instance Functor MyMonad where
fmap = applicative_fmap
instance Applicative MyMonad where
ap = monad_ap
(>>) = monad_aseq
return = ...
