The Center for Computational Vision and Control and the Programming
Languages and Systems group is seeking applicants for a Research
Programmer or Post-Doctoral Research Position in the area of
experimental software systems for real-time vision and related
application areas.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in an
advanced software engineering effort centered on the following topics:
o Software environments for real-time vision and related application
areas including vision-guided robotics and animation
o Functional reactive animation and multimedia programming
o Systems programming in advanced type-safe languages
o Application of language theory to vision and robotics
Successful applicants should have an advanced degree in Computer
Science or closely related field and prior experience in software
engineering. Working knowledge of algorithms for vision, graphics or
robotics, and knowledge of modern programming languages such as ML,
Haskell, and Java is desirable. The term of the position is 1 year
with an option to renew for up to 3 additional years. A starting date
around September 1997 is expected. A competitive salary will be
offered, with actual salary dependent on the applicant's
