If you're going to do this, are you going to change the Maybe library so
that it has something equivalent to mplus eg
plusMb :: Maybe a -> Maybe a -> Maybe a

I use this sort of thing a lot. I think I'd prefer MonadPlus to stay
though. Keep it in the Monad library?
