I'm a member of the patterns-discussion list and we all knew it was a joke.
In fact Mike's post was a joke as well. But people had a hard time not
believing it (who were fooled) based on MSR's web site and the fact that
Simon and Luca work for Microsoft.
Still, Haskell offers a compelling aspect for component-based development.
Mike's post alone caused me to go on a fact-finding rampage and go as far as
downloading/installing a whole slew of Haskell utilities. It's caused me to
take a serious look at Haskell's role in components, component glue, and
component frameworks. I'm sure others found value from it as well.
