Haskell Integers are not a proper subset of Haskell Floats or Doubles. Haskell does not support real numbers. It's a similar problem with C/C++. The "long" type is almost never a proper subset of "float", but C will nevertheless happily convert it for you without you asking, potentially losing precision in the process.
