There's an Unbreak Me extension for this:

My profile is tricked out with 8 (eight!) such Unbreak Me
extensions. Until I had not realised that half -- fully *half* --
of my laundry list of installed extensions comprises fixes for
one kind of braindeath in Firefox or another.

Wow.
