A pseudo distributed config (LocalHBaseCluster) starts up in process region
servers by invoking the HRegionServer constructor, the first few lines of which
is:
machineName = DNS.getDefaultHost(
conf.get("hbase.regionserver.dns.interface","default"),
conf.get("hbase.regionserver.dns.nameserver","default"));
String addressStr = machineName + ":" +
conf.get(REGIONSERVER_PORT, Integer.toString(DEFAULT_REGIONSERVER_PORT));
this.address = new HServerAddress(addressStr);
LOG.info("My address is " + address);
DNS.getDefaultHost() is a Hadoop class/method, which does:
if (strInterface.equals("default"))
return InetAddress.getLocalHost().getCanonicalHostName();
Are either hbase.regionserver.dns.interface or
hbase.regionserver.dns.nameserver set in hbase-site.xml? Try setting
hbase.regionserver.dns.interface to the desired interface for binding. eth0?
Check that reverse DNS is set up to return a valid hostname for the address
bound to the interface. According to the relevant Hadoop javadoc: "Returns the
default (first) host name associated by the provided nameserver with the
address bound to the specified network interface"
