Alan Gates created HCATALOG-478:
-----------------------------------

Summary: HCat reader/writer doc needs a discussion of failure cases
                 Key: HCATALOG-478
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HCATALOG-478
             Project: HCatalog
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: documentation
    Affects Versions: 0.5
            Reporter: Alan Gates
            Assignee: Lefty Leverenz
            Priority: Minor

>From HCATALOG-444

Something that's not clear in the doc is how write failures are handled. For
example, are output written to a staging directory, then moved into place? Can
a worker task that crashes during writes restart and rewrite the data without
getting duplicates? Is there a "commit" or "close" type operation to signal all
writers have completed writing?
