On April 30, we'll begin a new policy of charging each member a flat 
rate of $5 per pledge unit per month.  You can see this page for a 
reminder of what pledges are:

We'll charge members dues on the last day of each month.  On the first 
day of each month, automated low balance reminder e-mails are sent out.

For the rest of April, we'll be billing members for charges as they come 
in, as we've been doing all along.  Starting May 1, we'll bill these 
charges to a separate balance for the co-op, and money will be 
transferred from member balances to the co-op balance at the end of each 
month.

The board of directors approved this change in dues policy at our 
meeting today.  We'll meet periodically to reassess appropriate dues, 
but we expect we'll be sticking with flat rates from here on in.

We've been holding back on billing members for a number of charges 
incurred in getting our new servers set up.  The list of charges is here:

After I send this e-mail, I'm going to bill these charges out to members 
in proportion to pledge amounts.  We're giving every member the option 
to opt out of paying a share of this one-time cost.  If you e-mail me 
requesting this exemption, then we'll find other members willing to 
reimburse you for your share of the cost.
