I floated the idea of a 10th anniversary HCoop meet-up at a meeting earlier in
the year, and there was a little interest. While the HCoop’s origins
(http://wiki.hcoop.net/OurHistory <http://wiki.hcoop.net/OurHistory>) as
cooperative hosting go back to 2002 and the community has roots dating back
even to 1996, the corporate birthdate of HCoop Inc. as a legal entity is
February 17, 2005.

It’s getting late but since I had volunteered myself to help organize this
before, if this is going to be a thing it’s time to start picking venues,
sending out announcements, inviting presenters and such. I think it would
definitely be worth doing if we could get even half a dozen HCoopers together
in the same place for the first time, as long as it’s not going to be just me.
And it would be nice to promote it locally and draw in others from the free
software/open source/Linux/UNIX/web communities and make it a somewhat
legitimate geek event. I know I have a record of overcommitting but I do have
time off in February to make it happen.

Given HCoop’s center of gravity this would probably be in the northeastern USA,
thinking Boston, NYC or Philly, but if more people would show up someplace
warmer or such that’s fine by me, except that an executive decision will need
to be made soon.

I’ll put up a wiki page, but can we get some discussion of interest on the list
first? Anyone up for an HCoop meetup some weekend in February? Better yet,
anyone interested in coming AND helping out with organizing?

Best,
Nathan
