We can't hold a mailing list discussion on every sysadmin decision that needs making. There's always an element of discretion in determining what makes sense to bring up in that way. Perhaps we disagree on how this issue should have been classified along those lines, but I don't see why you bring it up like you're exposing high crimes and misdemeanors.
