I need to see about it, I've received suggestions for module-assistant
from different places now.

But, supposing that we patch the kernel with megaraid patches (needed
for deleuze) and have modules in /usr/src/modules/, then

  make-kpkg buildpackage

seems to do everything properly. (Finds modules in /usr/src/modules/ etc..)
