This happens to me all the time too. =( My hosting provider in CA has a bank of these things that they rent out by the hour (they hook it up for you), and they're absolute life-savers: http://www.ntecgmbh.de/text/ami_megar_k1.pdf I'm sure there are better ones out there; this model is pretty old and is just an existence proof at the $500 price point. It completely eliminates the need for "remote hands" unless there's a physical hardware failure; the thing can even act as a boot device for installing an OS on a blank machine. Only gripe is that it doesn't speak VNC natively. I dorked around with serial consoles for a while. Not really trustworthy unless you've got Sun hardware (where the hardware/bios/os integration is tight enough that it Always Works Perfectly). Just something to consider. The improvement in uptime might be worth a one-time expenditure of $5/member. - a _______________________________________________ HCoop-SysAdmin mailing list [email protected] http://hcoop.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/hcoop-sysadmin
