Thank you for the detailed bug reports!

This has been entered as a high-priority bug (HDFFV-7829) in JIRA.
We'll be addressing it immediately and will post more information when
we know more and/or have a solution.

The current work-around is to either build with gcc < 4.5 (or a
different compiler) or use pre-compiled binaries.
