Hi Sudipta,
I downloaded a similar file, MOD13Q1.A2003001.h12v09.005.2007261172941.hdf,
from http://e4ftl01.cr.usgs.gov/MOLT/MOD13Q1.005/2003.01.01/
I used the same option as you did but I could not reproduce the problem.
Everything
worked fine. The new file is a little bigger than the original one since
the original file
was compressed with GZIP level 5.
Could you download the file and try again? Just want to make sure the
file is not corrupted
along the way.
Thanks

Hi All,
I am facing a strange problem related to HDF tool "hrepack".
I am trying to use the hrepack tool to copy and compress a particular
MODIS dataset as follows:
hrepack -i MOD13Q1.A2003001.h12v09.006.201029312065.hdf -o
test.hdf.temp -t '*:GZIP 4'
where MOD13Q1.A2003001.h12v09.006.201029312065.hdf is a HDF4 MODIS
dataset.
When I run the tool on the above file that has 12 SDS inside, the
tool throws up an error:
"Failed to check empty SDS <MODIS_Grid_16DAY_250m_500m_VI/Data
Fields/250m 16 days view zenith angle>"
The strange thing is that the particular SDS "250m 16 days view zenith
angle" is not empty at all and is filled with valid data. I can open
that SDS in HDFView or in ENVI. I can also run other in-house hdf
tools on that file and sds and yet hrepack complains about it being
empty and cannot process this and all similar files.
I am not even sure as to what to look for and what is wrong.
Any suggestions or comments from anyone will be most welcome.
Thanks
