Dear Richard,

thank You for the help! However, yesterday I tried what You wrote (export ...)
and for some reason it worked. It seems that the configuration file of my program which needs the hdf5 libraries was misconfigured, I must have overlooked the mistake.

 Best regards,
  Joseph

Dear Joseph,

It is not clear from the provided information if you have set the enviroment-variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH (correctly).
Assuming that you are using the bash-shell, try:

   export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/users/jkobori/hdf5/lib

And try to run your executable.

Your executable is also outdated, hdf5-1.8.15-patch1, provides libhdf5.so.10.0.1 Thus you have to recompile your executables against the installed HDF5 libraries

Greetings, Richard

Hi,

I compiled several versions of HDF5, but no matter which version I want to use it keeps giving the following error:

"error while loading shared libraries: libhdf5.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

I guess this has something to do with the HDF5 configuration, but I couldn't figure out so far what might be the problem.
Could You help me out?

Attached the config.log and the libhdf5.settings, if You need more info, let me know!

   Cheers,
    Joseph
