Hello, HDF4 file format is different from HDF5. HDF5 library cannot read HDF4 files. You will need to use APIs from both HDF4 (https://www.hdfgroup.org/products/hdf4/) and HDF5 if you are working with two types of the HDF files.
Probably a better approach would be to use the h4toh5 conversion tool (https://www.hdfgroup.org/h4toh5/) to convert HDF4 files to HDF5 and use the HDF5 library.
