Hi Andrey, Thanks a lot for information!
We are using this tool http://ispras.linuxbase.org/index.php/ABI_compliance_checker. Compatibility reports are posted for each release. The links to the reports can be found in the “HDF5 Software Changes from Release to Release” document or using direct links https://www.hdfgroup.org/HDF5/doc1.8/ADGuide/Compatibility_Report/CR_1.8.17.html for 1.8.17 release and https://www.hdfgroup.org/HDF5/doc/ADGuide/Compatibility_Report/CR_1.10.0.html for 1.10.0 releases. To see reports prior to 1.8.17 just change the last number in the version, i.e., CR_1.8.17 ==> CR_1.8.16, in the link above. Please notice that we are using the report on the C and C++ HDF5 libraries. But I am not sure that this explains all difference in the report. Will be interesting to compare notes. Thanks again! The report for HDF5 has been recently added to the project: http://abi-laboratory.pro/tracker/timeline/hdf5/ The report is generated with the help of the abi-compliance-checker, abi-dumper and abi-tracker tools: https://github.com/lvc/abi-tracker Hope this will help users, maintainers and developers to maintain backward compatibility.
