If you’d like to help (and improve your Python skills at the same time),
I’d recommend contributing to one of the open source projects on github. H5py
(https://github.com/h5py/h5py ) and Pytables
(https://github.com/PyTables/PyTables) both have a number of issues where you
are welcome to make contributions. Likewise, with h5pyd
(https://github.com/HDFGroup/h5pyd) the Python client for h5serv/HSDS.
