Could you please explain why you need the fix to be in 0.21? Since 
TestDataBlockScanner passes, I would not worry that this is a critical bug 
because checksumOK is for block verification purpose. Since this is not a 
regression introduced by 0.21, by policy it should not be committed into 0.21.
