Sure we can discuss each item in more detail. One comment to item 2 - Discovery
of Configs. This reminds me some work I've done in HADOOP-13628, it adds a
common rest API to retrieve configuration from a server. This was done in a
common {{ConfServlet}} which is enabled by default in HttpServer2. The work
done by Elek in HDFS-12007 should be able to get this covered so it won't be a
problem at all.
