if you would like this to be backported to 3.0, Please reopen this JIRA. I
think we should have this in 3.0, but we are so close to beta1 I don't want to
commit something unless it absolutely essential for beta1. I look forward to
hearing all your thoughts on whether we should have this committed to beta1
branch before release.
