Aaron T. Myers commented on HDFS-2866: -------------------------------------- bq. I (we) are not convinced that having fsimage in a shared location is a bad idea. This issue can happen with local edit dirs having a gap in txid with respect to shared edit dirs. OK. Please let us know your reasoning. bq. Please leave the jiras open until we get a chance to think this through. Maybe we can close one as a dupe but not the other, since they're really the same underlying issue? Or perhaps close them both but open a new one along the lines of "HA: Should we have a shared directory with an fsimage?" I just don't want to have to one conversation split between two JIRAs. > Standby does not start up due to a gap in transaction id > -------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: HDFS-2866 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-2866 > Project: Hadoop HDFS > Issue Type: Sub-task > Components: ha > Affects Versions: HA branch (HDFS-1623) > Reporter: Hari Mankude > Priority: Critical > > Standby notices a gap in the transaction id in the shared.edits directory. > The transactions in dfs.edits.dir does not seem to have the gap.
