I am not sure if this solution #2 is going to be acceptable even in v1. Shared
storage (or connectivity to shared storage) becomes the single point of
failure. Network connections are bound to be flaky. Edit log writes are
synchronous and if write errors result in active NN degrading to standby mode,
then there is a good chance that this might happen in a data center.
