Thanks for your comments, Sanjay. I agree on all points above.
Sorry to have not reported progress on this - I've been spending my time
primarily on HDFS-3042 for the past two weeks. I hope to make more progress on
this soon. The current status is that I have implemented the basic quorum
protocol for writes, but still in progress implementing recovery after a switch
of the active node.
