Eli Collins commented on HDFS-3194: ----------------------------------- Hi Amith, I think the current behavior (rolling the log on each period) is intended. I think the bug is that we're starting a new period way too frequently (every 5 seconds instead of every three weeks by default). DataBlockScanner#run calls scanBlockPoolSlice every 5 seconds, and it starts a new period every time. Instead I think we should only start a new period in BlockPoolSliceScanner#scan when the full period is up. Make sense?
