That's not necessarily true, which is what Colin and I are demonstrating.  If 
/foo is a link to somewhere else, the ".." is relative to the resolved location.

I'm +0 on the change.  It just means that some exceptions from the shell aren't 
going to necessarily contain the original path given on the cmdline.  For now 
it's much more important to prevent corruption in the NN.
