I believe that there is nothing you can do to the SA8300.  Your tv will down convert the 1080i to the native resolution of the set, 720p.  Your set is missing HDMI. It’s not a recent set. I hope you got an excellent price.

Subject: [ HDTV in the NYC Area ] TWC at 720p? (SA 8300 DVR)

i just ordered TWC HD..

I have a 720p HD ready tv (Best Buy Insignia 26" lcd dv, component in,
DVI in, VGA in).  I'll be using component inputs...

The twc rep told me I needed a 1080i TV and that it wouldn't work at
720p.  Do all HD TVs downscale? Can I change the output signal on the
Scientific Atlanta 8300 to 720p?

Anybody running their SA8300 output at 720p?

Any way to change the settings on the front of the device, without
having to use a TV? After all, if it displays 1080i and you cant' get
a picture, but you need a picture to change the output, it's a catch
22...

I suspect the 8300 will sense what my tv is capable of, is this
correct?
