Dear colleagues,

In case you haven't already seen it, the JSC October 2007 "Outcomes" document is now available. This represents the points of agreement as they currently stand among the major RDA constituencies.

The biggest news for the general cataloging community may be the decision to reorganize the structure of RDA more along the lines of FRBR (without, presumably, needing to extend the 2009 publication date).

Of particular interest to this list, perhaps, is the section under Access Point Control regarding Bible Uniform Titles. JSC members have agreed on the following points (originally proposed in <http://www.collectionscanada.ca/jsc/working2.html#lc-8>5JSC/LC/8): * The Old and New Testaments will be referred to by their spelled out forms, not the existing AACR2 abbreviations "O.T." and "N.T." * Access points for individual books of the Bible will use the name of the book immediately following "Bible" rather than interposing the name of the appropriate Testament. * Access points in the form "Bible. Old Testament", "Bible. New Testament", and "Bible. Apocrypha" will be used to identify those groupings of the Bible as aggregate works. There is also something here about the effect IME ICC draft <http://www.nl.go.kr/icc/icc/papers.php>Statement of International Cataloguing Principles section 5.2.4 (Forms of Uniform titles) will have on RDA. For a discussion of why it might be problematic, see, e.g., <http://www.collectionscanada.ca/jsc/working2.html#ciliprep-1>5JSC/CILIP rep/1
