Dear all, Hope your pizza day went well. I've been asked by Rachel to forward this to Heb-naco on her behalf.
Many thanks, Neil >>>> Greetings, I write as AJL liaison to the AJS (Association for Jewish Studies). This past December, AJL organized a very successful professional development panel for the AJS conference in Chicago. In a roundtable format, several AJL members responded to prepared questions about our career choices and what our jobs entail. Then we opened the floor to questions from the audience. What began as an opportunity to expose scholars of Jewish Studies to the possibility of considering a career in librarianship and as, in addition, doing a great deal to explain to our audience what it is that Judaica librarians do. I would like to continue this new tradition, and, in the process, be sure to include Judaica librarians who work in a variety of different specific library jobs in our panel. Ideally, I would also like to include an archivist, and perhaps a museum professional. Panel members will need to join the AJS (there is a mildly discounted rate for AJL members!*) and to pay for and attend the annual conference in person, in Boston, December 18-20, 2022. If you are planning to attend AJS 2022 and would be interested in participating in this librarianship-career development panel, please write me<mailto:[email protected]> by Thursday, April 28. All best, Rachel *To join AJS, go to the membership page (for joining as an individual<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.associationforjewishstudies.org/membership/individual-membership__;!!KGKeukY!xYkpPNDpfFA1OAjOiKt5wUNENlwfCeX9Urbs_qt2IHHolx4NC7DjX9Ho_u8Bxtix7ufV6aOc7HjhdDdTy9NVXbfgOgA$ >) and enter this discount code: AJL2022AJS.
