I took a look at 862052798 and 864515712. At least in our WorldCat local, 264
$b shows up, although 264 $a doesn't. I am guessing it is a local setting, but
I'll check with the person in charge.
At Maryland we report all duplicates for the same work, so I agree with you.
However, I don't think OCLC should weed orphan records with no holdings. Two
reasons: some may correspond to a work we withdrew, but in the future somebody
else may get a holding in; second, some of us do create orphan records on
purpose. There are tons of donated materials on poor condition that I am
selecting directly to be digitized and uploaded to Hathi. Hathi requires
everything you send to have an OCLC number, so I catalog all originals on OCLC,
WITHOUT setting holdings for them. That way they don't appear in the catalog,
get no ILL requests, etc.

I'm curious to know why 264 in vernacular is not showing up on WorldCat view.
For example, see 862052798 or. I think we talked about this here before and it
doesn't seem to be a local system issue.
Also, are there any plans to weed "orphan" records with no holdings?
Encourage participants not to create multiple records for exactly same
work?.... Encourage vendors to create RDA records? :-)
