Hi all!
If the questions we're getting on IRC are any indication, many of you
are already working from the dev branch of Heka, but if you've been
waiting for v0.5 to drop before you try out the groovy new features like
Logstreamer, ProcessDirectoryInput, or our (almost) no-config rsyslog
and nginx parsing decoders, your wait is over:
https://blog.mozilla.org/services/2014/03/06/heka-v0-5-released/
Binaries are available on github:
https://github.com/mozilla-services/heka/releases/tag/v0.5.0
For those of you who don't want to add another network to your IRC
configuration, we've just added a #heka channel on irc.freenode.net, in
addition to the one we've already been using on irc.mozilla.org. Please
come find us there with your questions and comments.
Finally, I want to give a special shout-out to Christian Vozar, our top
non-Mozilla contributor for this release. He single-handedly gave us
HttpListenInput (accepts HTTP requests and generates Heka messages from
their contents) and heka-inject (simple command line tool which injects
one-off messages into a running Heka to test routing and other config),
as well as a bunch of smaller bug fixes and feature tweaks. Thanks
Christian, and all the rest of you who've cleared our hurdles
(changelog, docs, tests, etc.) to get your patches landed for this
release. :)
Cheers,
-r
