Hi Kapil,

It is really great that there will now be a HelenOS repository on Github
as I am more accustomed to using git than bazaar.

You probably misunderstood our motivations. You can, of course, create Git branches of HelenOS, on GitHub or anywhere else. You were able to do it even in the past. I have only registered our organization on GitHub in order to reserve our "trade mark" there, nothing more.

Is there any chance that HelenOS development will also be done using git
in the future ?

You know, never say never :) But not in the foreseeable future.

There have been many open source projects that have
shifted to using git from other version control systems.

Of course, but they usually switch from a centralized VCS to Git (which is a distributed VCS). Switching between Git, Mercurial and Bazaar (which are all DVCSs) as the official development technology does not yield many benefits (these DVCSs are very comparable, feature-wise), but you still have to pay the price of the switch. I don't think it would pay off in our case.

M.D.
