What I meant was the simplicity for the user. You can't deny that.

Of course, the _end_user_ should ideally never be faced with a requirement to type any device name. Whether it is bd/ata1disk0 or devices/\hw\pci0\00:01.0\ata-c1\d0 really makes very little difference here, neither of them is user friendly.

HelenOS has currently very little to offer to end users. Making it more user friendly would require to implement UI elements to intuitively select a device and provide other such necessary means. Making the low-level interface that no end user is actually supposed to touch less systematic by having ad hoc short strings such as sda or ata1disk0 is hardly improving anything.
